What sets us apart?

At Amherst Homes we build homes to suit local people and communities, because Amherst Homes is staffed and run by local people from those very same communities. Our local-centric approach ensures that – even when operating beyond our natural Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire boundaries – we always remain mindful of local styles, character and opinion.

Amherst Homes is small enough to be flexible, yet big enough never to have to compromise on quality. With a vastly experienced team, developed over many years and countless projects, our ‘strength in depth’ gives us a huge advantage. From our land and planning expertise to our bespoke designs (no templates for us), our standard of materials and finish, to our many accreditations and ten-year warranty, we’re proud of our reputation and of the homes that we build.

Community

As a local company with local roots, we like to contribute to local causes and community projects whenever possible each year.

We’re official sponsors of Saffron Walden Football Club and are one of Saffron Walden Carnival’s 8 Day Weekend Partners again  for 2020, we also support Saffron Walden Golf Club scratch and junior teams and in 2019 we are sponsors of their Centenary Charity Pro-Am Tournament on 2nd of August which will donate funds to the REAL for Ethan charity, another great local cause/charity. We are also proud to sponsor Saffron Screen’s First Rainbow Film Festival which will take place on 6-16 September this year.

We sponsored Accuro’s Summer Jazz Picnic on 7th July at Bridge End Gardens in Saffron Walden, the event was a huge success raising over £1,200. Accuro is a local  charity which provides services to vulnerable children and young adults in the local area.
Later in the year we will be sponsoring Saffron Walden charity Support for Sight’s 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner which will take place on 26th October (contact them direct for tickets) – this event is always well received and very enjoyable for all involved.  Last but not least we are huge supporters of Fairy Croft House a local community arts and media centre which encourages and develops creativity. They also hold lots of great events throughout the year for the local community such as Live Music, Sing-Alongs, and Stand-up nights.

Other – less local – causes about which we’re equally passionate and supportive are the Childrens’ Society, Children with Cancer UK, Blue Smile, Keech Hospice and Chidobe Village Primary School in Zimbabwe.

Mr and Mrs P, Saffron Walden

Having spent 35 years of my working career in the building maintenance arena I know how complex the construction process can be. I felt it appropriate to congratulate you and your team for the excellent house you have produced and the high quality of the finished product.

Mr G, Saffron Walden

My wife and I bought an Amherst property in January 2018, we can honestly say it’s the best decision of our lives.
